Terms of Service — Relay

Relay is a mobile application that helps people find partners for sports and other activities, chat with them, organise or join community sessions, and book venues together. Relay acts as a technology platform connecting users with each other and with venues listed by our separate venue-partner program; Relay itself does not own or operate any venue.

To create an account, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 — the App verifies your date of birth during onboarding and will not let you continue if you don’t meet this requirement;
• Provide a valid mobile number you control, verified by OTP;
• Provide accurate, current, and complete information, including the photo you use to verify your identity;
• Not have been previously banned or removed from Relay for violating these Terms.

Relay reserves the right to verify your information and to reject, suspend, or terminate any account that does not meet these criteria.

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login (mobile number/OTP) and for all activity conducted through your account.
• You must notify us immediately at [email protected] of any unauthorised access or use of your account.
• Relay is not liable for any loss arising from your failure to safeguard your account.

• You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your profile — name, photos, bio, and the activities you say you play.
• Your profile must not be misleading, impersonate anyone else, or contain content that is obscene, defamatory, or unlawful.
• You grant Relay a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display your profile content (photos, bio) to other users for the purpose of operating the matching and booking features of the App.
• Relay reserves the right to review, hide, or remove any profile or content that violates these Terms, applicable law, or Relay’s content guidelines, at its sole discretion, with or without notice.

Relay helps you find and arrange to meet other people in person to play sports or do other activities together. Relay does not conduct criminal background checks or independently verify the identity, intentions, or conduct of any user beyond the onboarding checks described in our Privacy Policy. You are solely responsible for exercising caution and good judgment when communicating with other users and when meeting them in person.

• We recommend meeting for the first time in a public place, such as the booked venue itself, and telling someone else your plans.
• Relay is not responsible for the conduct, whether online or in person, of any user of the App.
• If something goes wrong with another user, report or block them in the app (Settings → Blocked Users) and, if it’s a safety matter, contact local authorities as appropriate — reporting it to us does not replace that.

• Venue bookings and paid community events are processed through Razorpay. Relay never sees or stores your card, UPI, or wallet details.
• Prices shown in the app, including any convenience fee and GST, are computed by our servers at the time you book — not by your device — and are what you will actually be charged.
• Cancellation and refund terms are shown at the time of booking and depend on the venue’s own cancellation policy and how far in advance you cancel.
• When you organise or confirm a community session, you’re responsible for the accuracy of what you tell attendees about it.
• Repeated unjustified cancellations, no-shows, or payment disputes may result in restrictions on your account, at Relay’s discretion.

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, or discriminate against any user on the basis of religion, caste, gender, disability, or any other protected characteristic;
• Use Relay to solicit money, sell products or services, or for any purpose other than finding and arranging activities with other users;
• Create more than one account, or an account on behalf of someone else;
• Upload false, defamatory, obscene, or infringing content, or impersonate another person;
• Use bots, scripts, or automated means to access the App;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App;
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security or safety features of the App, including the reporting and blocking tools.

If you report another user or are reported yourself, Relay reviews the report and may warn, restrict, or permanently remove either account, at our discretion, to keep the platform safe. We aim to acknowledge safety reports promptly; see our Support page for our general response commitment.

All intellectual property in the App, including trademarks, logos, software, and content (excluding content you upload, like your profile photos), is owned by Relay or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use Relay’s trademarks or branding without prior written consent.

The App uses third-party services (payment processing, OTP delivery, cloud hosting, crash reporting, push notifications — see our Privacy Policy for the full list). Your use of such services may be subject to the respective third party’s terms, and Relay is not responsible for the acts or omissions of such third parties.

• Relay may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, for breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity, reports from other users, or at its reasonable discretion to protect the safety and integrity of the platform.
• You may delete your account at any time directly in the app (Profile → Legal & account → Delete my account) — see our account deletion page for what’s deleted versus retained.
• Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately; provisions relating to indemnification, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution survive termination.

• The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Relay does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
• Relay is a technology platform connecting users with each other and with venues, and is not a party to what happens between you and another user, or between you and a venue, once you’re matched or have booked.
• Relay does not guarantee that any match, session, or booking will meet your expectations, or that any other user is who they claim to be.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Relay, its directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, including anything arising from your interactions with other users or venues. Relay’s aggregate liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the total amount you paid through the App in the [three (3) months] preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Relay, its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of: (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) inaccurate information you provided; (c) any dispute between you and another user or a venue; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.

Relay reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or email, and continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

• These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.
• Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved amicably. Failing amicable resolution within 30 days, the dispute shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seated in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, conducted in English, by a sole arbitrator appointed by Relay.
• Subject to the above, the courts at Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

• Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Relay regarding the App.
• Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.
• No Waiver: Failure by Relay to enforce any right under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right.
• Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without Relay’s prior written consent. Relay may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
• Notices: Notices to Relay should be sent to [email protected]. Notices to you will be sent to the email/mobile number registered on your account.
